A finales de los 10 primeros episodios de la temporada 2, el plan de Alvey para Jay había sido un éxito. Tanto Ryan y Jay se alejaron de sus peleas con un cinturón de campeonato, que sólo puede significar una cosa: Es hora de que los dos entraran en la jaula, una lucha que enfrentará a Navy ST. contra Navy St.

EW exclusivamente puede revelar que Kingdom regresará para la temporada 2B el miércoles, 1 de junio.

"Hay una situación en la que es esencialmente hermano contra hermano," dice el productor ejecutivo Byron Balasco. "Es una familia dividida. Hay un cierto aspecto de la guerra civil a la misma en el sentido de que la gente en el gimnasio no están muy seguros de cómo actuar ".

En cuanto a los propios combatientes, Jay y Ryan tomarán muy diferentes enfoques para su gran momento decisivo. "Ryan es un tipo que ha estado compitiendo en deportes toda su vida por lo que está acostumbrado a luchar contra amigos. Jay no ", dice Balasco. "Creo que Jay es un poco más emocional; que hay un poco más de conflicto ".

Es un escenario que sólo se hace más complicado por lo que sucedió con el padre de Ryan al final de la temporada 2A. No sólo Ryan tiene que lidiar con el peso emocional de la eutanasia a su padre, pero él tiene que encontrar un lugar nuevo para dirigirse para obtener apoyo. Y para llegar a una figura paterna, se vuelve a Alvey, que podría no ser la mejor opción, sino como Balasco dice, "Es todo lo que tiene."

Sin embargo, d'Alvey no puede simplemente mirar a la lucha como un padre; también tiene que mirar a la lucha como un hombre de negocios. "Sólo uno de ellos puede ganar", Balasco dice, "¿y qué debería ser? Realmente divide el gimnasio, que sacude las cosas. Lisa no está allí por un tiempo para que tipo de navegar por nadie, por lo que el gimnasio está muy fragmentado Yo no creo que nadie está muy seguro de cómo tratar con él ".

At the end of Kingdom’s first 10 episodes of season 2, Alvey’s plan for Jay had been successful. Both Ryan and Jay walked away from their fights with a champsionship belt, which can only mean one thing: It’s time for the two of them to get in the cage, a fight that will pit Navy St. against Navy St.

EW can exclusively reveal that Kingdom will return for season 2B on Wednesday, June 1. Picking up about three months after the events of season 2A, fans can expect the Ryan-Jay fight to create a divide in the gym.

“You have a situation where it’s essentially brother against brother,” showrunner Byron Balasco says. “It’s a family divided. There’s a certain civil war aspect to it in the sense that people in the gym aren’t quite sure how to act.”

As for the fighters themselves, Jay and Ryan will take very different approaches to their big showdown. “Ryan’s a guy who has been competing in sports his whole life so he’s used to fighting friends. Jay is not,” Balasco says. “I think Jay’s a little more emotional; it’s a little bit more of a conflict.”

In the middle of it all? Alvey, whom Balasco says is “essentially watching his son and his surrogate son fight each other.” It’s a scenario that’s only made more complicated by what happened with Ryan’s father at the end of season 2A. Not only does Ryan have to deal with the emotional weight of mercy-killing his father, but he has to find somewhere new to turn for support. And in reaching out for a father figure, he turns to Alvey, who might not be the best option, but as Balasco puts it, “It’s all he has.”

Yet, Alvey can’t just look at the fight as a father; he also has to look at the fight as a businessman. “Only one of them can win,” Balasco says, “and who should it be? It really divides the gym, it shakes things up. Lisa’s not there for a while to sort of navigate that for anybody, so the gym is very much fractured. I don’t think anybody’s quite sure how to deal with it.” 

Kingdom season 2B premieres Wednesday, June 1 at 9 p.m. ET on AT&T’s Audience Network.
